Ethiopia has a long history of traditional textile & garment manufacturing that is endowed with profound national culture up to this date. The traditional clothes are made with culture-based cloth that represents Ethiopia’s sense of pride and dignity. Most people wear traditional cloth locally called “yehager Lebese” literary meaning national cloth. These clothes are mainly made from cotton that is woven together in long strips and then sewn together to make cloth. Shinny threads and a lot of eye catching patterns are also used to decorate these clothes and make them more elegant.

Traditional clothes have mostly been made by dress weavers (“Shemmanes”) for local consumption. However, the dress weavers (“Shemmanes”) and other entrepreneurs entering into the traditional clothes are improving the design and quality of the clothes to meet the changing needs and tastes of the consumers. Due to this, demand for Ethiopian traditional clothes is increasing, both locally and abroad by the Diaspora and foreigners (tourists).

Ethiopians, including the Diaspora normally wear traditional clothes on holidays (New Years, Christmas, Easter, Epiphany, etc) and on special occasions like weddings ceremonies and birthdays.

As in any other business, the increase in demand encourages new entrants hence increases consumption. It is due to this fact and with the notion that the market favors the prepared enterprise; Yeti Tibeb Lealem is bringing the best of the best and provides a depth of variations so that you will find something to your unique liking.
